Our Story
In 2008 The House began as a small group of 35 young adults lead by Pastor Chad Johnson with a dream to bring the Gospel to the newly opening UBCO campus. Weekly worship nights, Friday night concerts, and other outreach events characterized this vibrant ministry in its early days. The House was a place where students could study, eat a home cooked meal, find community and Jesus. As those young adults grew up and got married, Pastor Chad’s dream for the House began to shift. In 2012 a Sunday morning service was started alongside the Sunday evening young adult gathering in response to the needs of the growing families in the community. That Sunday morning service quickly grew to two services as the community outgrew the current meeting space.
What began 16 years ago as a small young adult group has grown into a vibrant multi-generational community. With three services on a Sunday attended by an average of 500 individuals including 70-75 kids, and 150 young adults, we are out of space. We have traded offices for kids rooms, pool and ping pong tables for kids rooms, and dedicated study spaces for you guessed it - more kids rooms. Unfortunately (or fortunately) we don’t have any spaces left to trade and it’s time for us to respond to what God is doing in our community.
A new dream is in our hearts, and we want you to be a part of it.
Your Story
We want to begin to plant seeds of provision as a community so that when we expand we can afford to operate in the newly created space. We are working with the City of Kelowna, architects, engineers and our team to make this new dream a reality. We see a future with more kids spaces, dedicated youth gathering areas, and a facility that could host multiple ministries on any given night. God has been so faithful in 2024, and in 2025 we are believing for even more.
We’re believing for 250 families/individuals to begin or increase their monthly giving by $50 by December 31.
We desire to encourage people towards regular giving as a spiritual discipline, and an act of growing in their apprenticeship to Jesus. When we give regularly, independent of the sway of our live’s expenses it produces a beautiful reliance on God, His spirit and trust that he is in control.
Our Ask
About 50% of our church community give regularly. We would love to see this number grow, both for you, and the world.
What would it look like for you to grow in your obedience to God, and generosity to the world? Every time we give financially, we are investing into miracles we haven’t seen yet.
If you already give to The House - thank you! Would you consider increasing your monthly contribution by $50? If you are new to giving in our community, would you consider starting with a gift of $50 or more? If you can’t afford $50 monthly, start where you are at. Every contribution makes a difference.
